Janita Poe

Janita Poe, PhD, currently serves as News Manager at the Southern Regional Education Board, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing education across 16 Southern states, since February 2023. Additionally, Janita holds a position as a Visiting Professor at Georgia State University's J. Mack Robinson College of Business starting January 2024. Previous experience includes roles as an SREB Dissertation Year Fellow, Atlanta Global Studies Center Research Fellow, and instructor at Georgia State University. Janita has extensive journalism experience, having worked as Senior Writer/Social Media Strategist at Poe Communications, LLC, News Director at AL.com, Editor/Columnist at AOL, and various reporting roles at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Chicago Tribune. Educational qualifications encompass a PhD in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Georgia State University, along with master's degrees in Journalism from The University of Georgia and a bachelor's degree in Communications/English/French from Florida State University.
