David McCone currently serves as the Organisational Health & Safety Manager at Southland District Council since November 2023. Prior to this role, David was the Wellbeing and Safety Lead for Region 4 at Te Pūkenga, where responsibilities included leading a regional team in wellbeing and safety, fostering partnerships, and contributing to national safety frameworks and standards. David's extensive experience also includes positions as Health and Safety Manager and Coordinator at Southern Institute of Technology, Construction Supervisor at GJ Gardner Homes, and various safety-focused roles at Alliance Group Limited. David's career began in law enforcement with the NZ Police, progressing from Police Constable to Police Detective. Educational qualifications include a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and certifications in Disability Management.
