Joe Bourque is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in various leadership roles across multiple organizations. Currently serving as a Senior Consultant for Fortune 500 companies since September 2018, Joe focuses on exploring new products and markets while identifying opportunities within existing products. As the Strategic Transport/Roading Manager for Southland District Council since April 2010, Joe has led stakeholder management and defined economic drivers for New Zealand’s largest roading and bridging network. Prior to this, Joe held numerous executive positions at New Zealand Post from November 1993 to May 2009, overseeing various groups including Datamail and Sales & Marketing. Joe's career began at Seagate Technology, where as Senior Executive Director, leadership encompassed high-volume manufacturing operations and procurement. Joe holds a BSEE ASEE with a focus on large scale integration of semiconductors from USCG, NYU, and RCA.

Southland is one of New Zealand's most beautiful areas, home to two National Parks and some of the most spectacular scenery the country has to offer. Southland District Council manages around 30,979 square kilometres of the Deep South, home to more than 29.000 people. We look after most of Southland (excluding Gore & Invercargill which have their own councils). Southland District Council is responsible for the day-to-day running of our communities - looking after water, wastewater, stormwater, rubbish, animal control, cemeteries, environmental health, libraries, parks and reserves and roading.
