Jessie Mai has a diverse work experience. In 2010, they started as a Peer Mentor at Mt. San Jacinto College until 2012. Following this, in 2012, they worked as an Assistant Manager at Viva Travel and Tours until 2014. From 2014 onwards, they became a Mental Health Caseworker at the Vietnamese Community of Orange County (VNCOC).

(VNCOC) Southland Integrated Services, Inc.'s mission is to improve the well-being of Orange County's diverse residents through outreach, education, and community health services. Established in 1979 as a refugee resettlement support agency operating out of a makeshift storefront office in an area that now became today’s Little Saigon, the Vietnamese Community of Orange County, Inc. (VNCOC) has gradually expanded its operations to respond to the rapidly evolving needs of the local community.
