David Watson

David Watson is an experienced professional in public policy and communications, currently serving as a Councillor and Chief Whip of the Southwark Liberal Democrat Council Group since May 2022, where responsibilities include representing constituents and scrutinizing council decisions. Watson previously held the position of Managing Director of Communications at Chatham House, leading communications strategies and advising on policy. A former Director of External Affairs at ODI, Watson has extensive expertise in public affairs, strategic partnerships, and international development through roles in various governmental departments, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Department of Energy and Climate Change. Watson holds a Master of Arts in Development Economics and International Development from King's College London and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from the University of Exeter.
