Benjamin M. Azevedo, MD, MPH, FACP has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Benjamin M. started their career as an Educational Assistant at Friends Without A Border & Angkor Hospital for Children in 2005. Later, they worked as a Country Coordinator for the Clinton Foundation in 2007. In 2008, they joined Tulane University as a Medical Student and took on various roles such as Research Associate, Teaching Assistant, and Member of the Dean's Committee on LCME Accreditation.
In 2009, Benjamin founded and served as the CEO of New Orleans Bow Ties until 2013 when the company closed due to their residency. Benjamin M. also worked as a Medical Student Ambassador for Doximity from 2011 to 2012. Starting from 2013, they joined Scripps Health as a Resident Physician and eventually became the Chief Resident. In 2017, they joined Lake Charles Memorial Health System as a Hospitalist and later became the Co-Medical Director of Hospital Medicine.
In 2020, Benjamin joined LSU Health Sciences School of Public Health as an Assistant Professor. Throughout their career, they have shown a commitment to healthcare, education, and research.
Benjamin M. Azevedo, MD, MPH, FACP received their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, completing their undergraduate education from 2001 to 2005. Following this, they pursued their medical education at Tulane University School of Medicine from 2008 to 2013, earning a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Simultaneously, during the same period, they obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Health Systems Management from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. In 2020, Dr. Azevedo obtained the Fellowship of the American College of Physicians (FACP) certification through the American College of Physicians.
