Lanny Nickell has been with Southwest Power Pool since July 1997, currently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for strategic direction and execution of transmission planning, resource adequacy, real-time operations, and IT functions while interfacing with FERC, state regulatory commissions, and stakeholders. Prior roles at SPP include Vice President of Engineering and Operations, where Lanny provided executive oversight of engineering services and real-time operations. Lanny's earlier experience includes significant positions at Central and Southwest Services, focusing on transmission access and tariff administration. Lanny holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of Tulsa and completed further education at Harvard Business School.
