Dr. Howard A. Kurtz, PhD, is a Full Professor and Bernhardt Scholar at Southwestern Oklahoma State University since August 2013, specializing in teaching, scholarship, and service, with a focus as a Criminal Justice Analyst for the Media. With extensive experience in the academic field, Dr. Kurtz previously served as a Full Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Oklahoma City University from August 1979 to July 2012. Dr. Kurtz holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Post Doc in Crime Studies and a Mellon Foundation post-doctoral study in Social Science from Rice University, as well as a PhD in Sociology-Psychology and a PhD in Social Organization and Disorganization from the University of North Texas and the University of North Texas at Dallas, respectively.
