Karan Hebbar

Karan Hebbar is a Machine Learning Engineer with SovaSage Inc. since 2021. Prior to that, they were a Machine Learning Intern with Grid Fruit from 2020, where they implemented a tree regressor to predict daily power consumption and achieved an RMSE of 2. Additionally, they were a Graduate Research Assistant with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University from 2020. Karan worked on a system that involved product detection, tracking and counting to provide an estimate on the inflow and outflow of various products in a warehouse. Karan researched on challenges such as uneven lighting/reflections due to sunlight, limited data, obstruction/bad positioning of products and camera orientation. This model is currently being deployed at 20 warehouses for Thailand's largest beverage company, ThaiBev.

Karan Hebbar has an educational background that includes a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (2019-2020) and a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology (2014-2018). Karan also holds four certifications from Coursera: Convolutional Neural Networks (August 2019), Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization (August 2019), Neural Networks and Deep Learning (August 2019), and Sequence Models (August 2019).
