Lauren Wind

Lauren Wind, PhD, has diverse work experience in various research roles. They began working as a Data Scientist at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. in February 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech from August 2015 to December 2020, where they worked in the Biological Systems Engineering Department under the guidance of Dr. W. Cully Hession and Dr. Another role they held was as a Research Assistant at Allegheny College from August 2012 to May 2015. During this time, they contributed to multiple projects related to the Detritus Input and Removal Treatment (D.I.R.). Additionally, in 2014, they were awarded a role as an Interdisciplinary and Water Sciences and Engineering NSF/REU student at Virginia Tech, where they worked on the Water Quality for Human Health and Aesthetics project under Dr. Dietrich in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Their research focus included water supply quality and contaminated water sources.

Lauren Wind, PhD, has a strong educational background in the field of Biological Systems Engineering. Lauren obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biological Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, where they studied from 2017 to 2020. Prior to their PhD, Lauren completed their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in the same field at Virginia Tech from 2015 to 2017.

Before joining Virginia Tech, they pursued their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Environmental Science at Allegheny College from 2011 to 2015. During their undergraduate studies, Lauren also had the opportunity to further expand their knowledge by attending the Marine Biological Laboratory from 2013 to 2014, where they focused on Biogeochemistry in an Environmental Science Semester program.
