Daphne Thijssen-Timmer

Daphne Thijssen-Timmer currently serves as Lid RvB/COO at Spaarne Gasthuis since April 2024. Prior to this, Daphne founded and chaired the Sanquin Research Fund_Blood for Life from January 2021 to April 2024 and served as a board member at the Stichting Academic Institute for International Development of Transfusion Medicine (IDTM) during the same period. From December 2019 to April 2024, Daphne held the position of Vice President on the Executive Board of the European Blood Alliance and was also a member of the Executive Board at Sanquin from September 2004 to April 2024, where roles included Director of Bloodbank and Interim CEO. Earlier experiences include serving as Managing Director of Tissues & Cells, project leader in cellular therapies, and postdoctoral fellow researching hematopoiesis. Daphne was the CEO of Bislife from May 2015 to March 2017 and a member of the Board of Advisors at Stichting TRIP until April 2024. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Endocrinology and an MSc in Medical Biology from the University of Amsterdam, along with further studies in governance, leadership, and business at various institutions.
