Jara Villanueva is an accomplished professional specializing in remote sensing and geospatial technologies, currently serving as the Head of the Service Consulting Unit and Remote Sensing Specialist Lead at Axelspace Corporation since April 2020. Villanueva also holds leadership roles with the Space Generation Advisory Council as Co-Lead for Space Technology for Earth Applications (STEA) since June 2024, and as Public Outreach & Communications Co-Lead with Women+ in Geospatial since September 2023. Recently, Villanueva worked as a Consultant and Geospatial Expert for FAO, contributing to global food security initiatives. Space Generation Advisory Council
The Space Generation Advisory Council in support of the United Nations Programme on Space Application (SGAC) is a non-governmental organisation which aims to represent students and young space professionals to the United Nations, States, and space agencies. SGAC has permanent observer status in the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS). SGAC has a long history and was conceived at the Third United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Space (UNISPACE-III) in Vienna in 1999, the SGAC Executive Council is made up of representatives from each of the 6 UN regions, and has a larger body of representatives from nation states. Our focus is on pragmatic space policy advise to policy makers based on the interests of students and young professionals, broadly in the age range 18-35, interested in space from around the world.
