Randi Ellingsen currently serves as the Head of Communication and PR at Space Norway, a position held since September 2023. Prior to this role, Randi worked at Sykehuspartner HF from January 2021 to September 2023 as a Senior kommunikasjonsrådgiver, focusing on strategic communication for the STIM modernization program in Helse Sør-Øst. Randi has extensive experience in communication roles with the Norwegian Armed Forces from April 2006 to December 2020, including positions such as Senior kommunikasjonsrådgiver and Avdelingsleder PR- og informasjonsavdelingen, where responsibilities encompassed strategic communication planning and media management. Earlier career experiences include roles at Avalon Stores, Fagbokforlaget, Handelshøyskolen BI, and the University of Bergen, alongside varied positions during academic studies. Randi holds a Hovedfag (Cand.polit.) degree in Medievitenskap from the University of Bergen.

Space Norway

Space Norway’s task is to manage and develop strategic and security-critical space infrastructure safeguarding national functions. Space Norway is 100% owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and represents a key part of the Norwegian Government’s activities and assets in the space sector. The Space Norway group comprises the holding company Space Norway AS including the 100% owned subsidiaries Statsat AS and Space Norway HEOSAT AS (HEOSAT), as well as a 50% ownership in Kongsberg Satellite Services AS (KSAT). - Statsat is responsible for the development and operation of small satellites for governmental use. The business is mainly related to the operation and renewal of the Norwegian Coastal Administration’s fleet of AIS satellites. - HEOSAT was registered in 2019 and is a single purpose company with the goal to establish broadband communication in the Arctic by launching two satellites into a highly elliptical orbit with a corresponding ground segment. - KSAT is a joint venture owned 50/50 by Space Norway AS and Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace AS. KSAT is the world’s largest supplier of ground station services for controlling and downloading data from satellites in polar orbits. Space Norway owns and is responsible for the fibreoptic connection between mainland Norway and Svalbard. In addition to transmitting satellite data to customers worldwide, the fibre system is the primary connection between Svalbard and the outside world.
