Bill Reach

Bill Reach is currently a Senior Research Scientist at the Space Science Institute, a position held since February 2024. Prior to this, Bill led the scientific operations of the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy at USRA from June 2010 to January 2024, also serving as Associate Director of the Universities Space Research Association during that time. Bill's extensive research experience includes a role as a Research Scientist at Caltech, focusing on the Spitzer Space Telescope and related projects, as well as a Stagiaire at the Institut d'Astrophysique Spatiale, working on the Infrared Space Observatory camera team. Bill began a career in research as a Fellow with the National Research Council, contributing to the Cosmic Background Explorer science team. Bill holds a PhD in Astronomy from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute, along with an AB in Physics from Cornell University.
