Jean-Marc Fontaine

Jean-Marc Fontaine has over 18 years of work experience in the software engineering industry. In 2003, they began their career as a Software Engineer at Infico, where they developed applications and designed databases using Delphi. In 2004, they moved to Odeyssa as a Software Engineer, where they developed software, designed databases, and provided customer support. In 2006, they founded and became the Owner of Kanopée, managing sales, recruiting, training, and managing engineers, as well as designing and developing applications and databases for customers. In 2007, they worked as a PHP Trainer at Mediabox. In 2008, they worked as a PHP/Zend Framework Teacher at INSSET. From 2009 to 2016, they worked at Alter Way, first as a Software Engineering Consultant, auditing customer applications and systems for quality, correctness, maintainability, and security, and advocating software engineering best practices, and giving talks at national and international conferences. Later, they became an Engineering Manager, designing and developing applications and databases for customers, and recruiting, training, and managing engineers. In 2016, they became a Partner at CTO_Partners. From 2014 to 2022, they worked at CareerBuilder, first as a Cloud Architect, improving and operating 35+ AWS ECS clusters, implementing redundancy, self-healing features, and improved alerting, and designing and developing Terraform modules. Later, they became a Technical Team Manager, leading an SRE team and managing a $1.5 Million/year AWS budget. In 2022, they began working as a Solutions Architect at Spacelift, where they are responsible for pre-sales and post-sales proofs-of-concept, post-sales technical customer success, and creating technical content.

Jean-Marc Fontaine's education history includes a High School Diploma from Lycée Jean Prévost (Montivilliers) from 1992-1996, an Associate Degree in Information Technology from St Jo Sup (Le Havre) from 1999-2001, a Bachelor's Degree in Web Software Development from INSSET (Saint Quentin) from 2001-2002, and an Executive MBA in Management and Entrepreneurship from EPITECH from 2013-2015. Jean-Marc has also obtained several certifications, including AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in April 2021, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate from HashiCorp in November 2021, FinOps Certified Practitioner from The Linux Foundation in August 2020, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in July 2020.
