Michael McDermott

Michael McDermott is an accomplished mechanical engineer with extensive experience in both academic and practical engineering roles. As the Director of Integration for the Stanford Solar Car Project, Michael oversees the integration of various sub-teams to design and construct a solar race car for the World Solar Challenge. Previous roles include serving as Academic Co-Chair for Stanford Undergraduates in Mechanical Engineering, and multiple engineering positions at SpaceX, focusing on propulsion systems for the Starship rocket. Michael has also contributed as an ACT instructor with Tutors Across America and engaged in research at Stanford University on agricultural technologies. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University with a 3.7 GPA and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in the same field.
