James Banting has a diverse work experience spanning several years. James started their career in 2011 as the President of Delta Geomatics, where they served until 2019. During this time, they gained valuable leadership skills. In 2014, they joined Integrated Sustainability Consultants Ltd. as a Geospatial Analyst, where they worked until 2017. During this role, they developed expertise in spatial analysis. In 2011, they also began working at the University of Lethbridge as a Teaching Assistant and later as a Graduate Student until 2015. In 2013, they worked as a Research Student at DRDC for a brief period. Most recently, they joined Sparkgeo in 2017 as a Geospatial Developer and later became the VP of Research and Strategic Projects in January 2021. This role showcases their growth and expanded responsibilities within the company.

James Banting pursued their education at The University of Lethbridge, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from 2004 to 2009. Building on this foundation, they went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Geography at the same institution, from 2012 to 2015.
