John Donovan has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. John is currently working as a Senior Software Developer at Sparkgeo since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked at GeoSpark as a GIS and archaeology software engineer since July 2012. From April 2016 to March 2022, John served as the Lead Developer at PixelMill Digital, specializing in point cloud rendering and storage. John was also the CTO at Phaide Limited from June 2014 to June 2016, where they designed and developed a product for visualizing temperature and humidity in houses using IoT sensors.
Before that, John worked as a Software Engineer at Virtalis from May 2008 to July 2012, focusing on the development of GeoVisionary and GIS tools for pre-construction terrain visualization. John started their career as a Games Programmer at TT Fusion from May 2007 to May 2008, working on Nintendo Wii and DS games and tools. John also has experience as a Software Engineer at Ordnance Survey from March 1998 to September 2000, where they worked on the internal database and digitizing system for the Boundaries Department.
John Donovan attended the University of Liverpool from 2008 to 2011, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Archaeology. In addition, they obtained a certification as an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in December 2022.
