Emily Beardsley Edwards currently serves as a Valuations Supervisor at Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing since November 2019. Concurrently, Emily has worked as a Teen Assistant at Spartanburg County Public Libraries since August 2016, focusing on program planning for teens and outreach initiatives to enhance library circulation among low-income demographics. Previously, Emily held the position of Library Assistant IV at Greenville County Library System from October 2017 to November 2019 and worked as a Human Services Specialist II at Spartanburg Department of Social Services in 2016, assisting clients with basic and medical needs. Emily also has experience as a Children's Assistant at Spartanburg County Public Libraries and completed an internship at Walnut Grove Plantation, which involved research and activity development for a children's summer camp. Emily earned a Bachelor's of Arts in History from the University of South Carolina Upstate between 2010 and 2013.

Spartanburg’s first Library opened in 1885, 128 years ago, on Morgan Square. The Headquarters and nine branch libraries including the Bookmobile, Home Delivery and the Libraries’ online digital library meet the informational and educational needs of the County through a comprehensive slate of services. Over 90% of Spartanburg County’s population lives within 5 miles of a public library; over 1.8 million items were checked‐out; 1.5 million patrons visited the Library for services including programs, meeting rooms and reader services; and 1.1 million patrons used the Library’s online digital resources.
