Katherine Konopka has a background in finance and administration, with experience in various roles within different organizations. Currently serving as the Assistant Director of Finance at Spartanburg County Public Libraries, Katherine previously held the position of Accounting Supervisor at Spartanburg County Clerk of Court. Their responsibilities included managing various accounts, supervising staff, and generating financial reports. Prior to this, Katherine worked as a Bookkeeper at Spartanburg District 5 Schools and served as an Attendance Secretary at Florence Chapel Middle School. With a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Georgia State University, Katherine also worked as a Retirement Specialist at the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia.

Spartanburg’s first Library opened in 1885, 128 years ago, on Morgan Square. The Headquarters and nine branch libraries including the Bookmobile, Home Delivery and the Libraries’ online digital library meet the informational and educational needs of the County through a comprehensive slate of services. Over 90% of Spartanburg County’s population lives within 5 miles of a public library; over 1.8 million items were checked‐out; 1.5 million patrons visited the Library for services including programs, meeting rooms and reader services; and 1.1 million patrons used the Library’s online digital resources.
