Naomi Pickens

Naomi Pickens has extensive experience in library services, currently serving as a Children Services Assistant and Tween Services Assistant at Spartanburg County Public Libraries since August 2011. Prior to this, Naomi worked as a sales associate at Rainbow Apparel Co from September 2009 to February 2015. In terms of education, Naomi earned a Baccalauréat in Studio Art from Converse University (2008-2011) and an Associate's degree in Liberal Arts from TriCounty Technical College (2006-2008). Currently, Naomi is pursuing a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) at North Carolina Central University, having started this program in January 2023.

Spartanburg’s first Library opened in 1885, 128 years ago, on Morgan Square. The Headquarters and nine branch libraries including the Bookmobile, Home Delivery and the Libraries’ online digital library meet the informational and educational needs of the County through a comprehensive slate of services. Over 90% of Spartanburg County’s population lives within 5 miles of a public library; over 1.8 million items were checked‐out; 1.5 million patrons visited the Library for services including programs, meeting rooms and reader services; and 1.1 million patrons used the Library’s online digital resources.
