John Boone

Board Member at SPCA of Northern Nevada

John Boone serves as the Research Director at Great Basin Bird Observatory since January 2006, focusing on conservation science and planning for land management agencies. As Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors at the Alliance for Contraception in Cats & Dogs since August 2013, John Boone advocates for non-surgical contraceptive methods for free-roaming pets. Additionally, John Boone has been a Scientific Consultant for the Humane Society of the US since March 2013, where responsibilities include designing field surveys and analyzing data for management programs on street dogs and outdoor cats. Involvement with the SPCA of Northern Nevada spans from board membership to chair positions since May 2002. Academic experience includes a Research Assistant Professorship at the University of Nevada Reno, where research was conducted on environmental determinants of zoonotic diseases from May 1998 to December 2005. Educational qualifications include a Post-Doc in Ecology of Zoonotic Disease from the University of Nevada, Reno, a PhD in Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder, an MS in Biology from Idaho State University, and a BS in Biology from The George Washington University.
