Alex joined the Special Citizens team in 2015 as the Statewide TOUCH Coordinator and later assumed the roles of Director of Quality Assurance, Vice President of Health & Quality Assurance, and ultimately, Executive Director. While working within the nonprofit sector he has championed individuals with Autism and has led his teams to provide to work with excellence in educating and supporting individuals living with Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorders.

In 1976, a group of parents of autistic adolescents came together to organize Special Citizens as a nonprofit organization. The organization began as a vehicle to advocate for ongoing adult programs for their children who had aged out of Special Education services with very few options for long-term housing or day programming.
