Kira Northrop

Kira Northrop has a diverse range of work experience across multiple industries. In 2016, they began their career with Special Olympics Maryland, starting as an intern in broadcasting and new media before transitioning to roles in the development team and later becoming the Director of Communications. In 2018, they became the Director of Media, and in July 2021, they were promoted to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications. Alongside their work with Special Olympics Maryland, Kira has also worked as a child caregiver in various homes since 2006 and as a banquet captain, waitress, and pool staff at Old South Country Club from 2012 to 2016. Kira was a member and later the Vice President of the Shepherd University Debate and Forensics Team from 2015 to 2016 and served as a play-by-play commentator for the Applemen Radio Network during the same period. Kira also worked for Anne Arundel County Public Schools as an ESY employee supporting special needs students from 2014 to 2015 and briefly as an adult home care provider at MacCrory Home in 2012.

Kira Northrop holds a Master's degree in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia, which they obtained from Southern New Hampshire University between 2017 and 2020. Prior to that, they attended Shepherd University from 2013 to 2016, where they pursued a degree in Recreation and Leisure with a focus on Sports Communication. Their educational journey began at Southern High School from 2009 to 2013, where they completed their high school education, but no specific degree or field of study information was provided for this period.
