Terri Mayfield has extensive experience in various roles focused on therapeutic services and community coordination. Currently serving as Therapeutic Director at the City of Southfield since April 1999, Terri Mayfield also contributes as Local Coordinator and Coach for Special Olympics Michigan since March 2011. Terri Mayfield's educational background includes studies in General Studies at Fairmont State College (1973-1975) and graduation from Washington Irving High School (1969-1973). Terri Mayfield is now retired.

The mission of Special Olympics Michigan is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the state of Michigan. Athletes are given continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness and athletic skill, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
