Special Olympics Oregon
Alix Wasteney is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in community integration and inclusive programming, primarily with Special Olympics Oregon. Currently serving as a School Community Integration Specialist since December 2022, Alix leads a pilot project aimed at facilitating transitions for students with and without intellectual disabilities to college and community programs while establishing partnerships and developing vital resources. Previously, as a Fitness + Wellness Specialist, Alix directed virtual programming during the pandemic to keep athletes active and engaged. Alix's decade-long tenure as Director of School Engagement included strategic planning, partnership development, event management, and an innovative anti-bullying campaign. Alix's early career involved roles in administration and customer service, complemented by education in Health Studies and certifications in health coaching.
Special Olympics Oregon
Special Olympics Oregon serves the largest disability population in the state and this year they will celebrate their 40th Anniversary. Special Olympics Oregon provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
