Janine Smedley

Janine Smedley has extensive work experience in project and portfolio management, digital transformation, and technology leadership. Janine currently serves as the Head of Technology & Digital Delivery at SThree since June 2021. Prior to this, they worked at The Law Society as the Head of Portfolio & PMO from May 2018 to June 2021, where they managed a £41m portfolio of digital transformation projects. Janine also implemented a PMO and provided advice to the executive leadership on project selection and product development.

Before that, Janine held the position of Interim Head of Projects at Catalyst Housing Limited from October 2017 to March 2018. Janine also worked as the Head of Digital Operations & PMO at Reed Professional Services from August 2015 to October 2017, where they developed and oversaw the delivery of digital work packages for clients in broadcast media and banking.

Janine's previous experience includes roles at Action for Children, where they served as the Head of the Portfolio Office from September 2012 to September 2015. During their tenure, they led the enterprise project and programme management function and implemented the Digitally Enabling Action for Children programme. Janine also managed the development and implementation of the corporate strategy.

In addition, Janine worked at TfL as a Principal Business Planner from 2007 to 2008, where they produced capital and revenue plans and co-authored a paper on Developing Business Cases for Bus Lane Enforcement. Janine also held the position of Senior Project Manager (Business Improvement) at City University from 2003 to 2008, where they successfully managed major projects such as the implementation of SAP for Purchasing and property works.

Early in their career, Janine served as the Deputy Executive Director at the Royal Statistical Society from 1997 to 2002, where they implemented strategic business planning processes and worked closely with senior members to restructure staff and volunteer resources. Janine also worked as a Marketing Manager at King's College London from 1993 to 1997.

Janine Smedley obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Exeter between 1989 and 1992. Janine later pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies at London Metropolitan University from 1995 to 1997. In addition to their formal education, Janine has obtained various certifications, including Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF), and Management of Portfolios MoP certification.
