R. John Fletcher has served on the Board of Directors since March 2002 and was appointed Chairman of the Board in December 2010. Fletcher is currently Managing Partner of Fletcher Spaght, Inc. (FSI), a strategy consulting organization, which he founded in 1983, and Managing Director of Fletcher Spaght Ventures, a venture capital fund. Prior to FSI, Fletcher was a senior manager at The Boston Consulting Group. Fletcher was a PhD candidate in International Business at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, during which he earned a master’s degree in International Finance. He received his MBA from Southern Illinois University. Fletcher currently serves as a director of Axcelis Technologies, a public semiconductor equipment company. From 2005 to 2009, Fletcher served as a director of Panacos Pharmaceuticals Inc., a public biotechnology company focused on therapeutic solutions for infectious disease; until 2011, he served as a director of AutoImmune, Inc., a public biotechnology company that develops orally administered pharmaceutical products; and from 2011 until 2012, he served as a director of Marina Biotech, a biotechnology company focused on RNAi-based therapeutics. Fletcher brings strategic insight, leadership and a wealth of experience in health care to the Board, both in our core businesses and in new business opportunities. Additionally, he has experience as a public company director on other public company boards.
