Steven Matthew Velazquez serves as the Community Engagement Coordinator at Spectrum Theatre Ensemble and the Programming Chair on the board of Haus of Codec, where efforts focus on addressing transition-age youth homelessness through creative engagement. As a Communications Consultant for West Bay Chorale, Steven advises on effective communication strategies. Previous roles include Digital Communications Associate and Communications Manager at New Urban Arts, leading digital fundraising campaigns and expanding institutional voice. Other experiences involve curating community events at The Steel Yard, serving as an On-Air Personality at 95.5 WBRU, and internships at AS220 and Smithsonian Folkways. Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a focus on Ethnomusicology from Brown University and a Master of Library & Information Science from Simmons University.

OUR MISSION: Spectrum Theatre Ensemble evolves the awareness, resources, and professionals that empower our neurodiverse community in achieving equal opportunity and full participation in society. OUR HISTORY: Spectrum Theatre Ensemble (STE) is a company of neurodiverse theatre artists, based in Providence, RI. STE was developed with the aid of a grant awarded to our Artistic Director Clay B. Martin, in partnership with Trinity Rep, entitled the Leadership U[niversity] One-on-One Mentorship Grant. The grant was administered by Theatre Communications Group (TCG) with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. STE was founded in 2017 by a group of Neurodiverse theatre artists with the common belief that theatre provides a unique, collaborative venue for the understanding and inclusion of all, and that our society and culture is stronger for it. We produce relevant and high-quality productions. We also provide leading initiatives and sensory-friendly consulting with other organizations within the theatre industry and beyond. STE engages artists and audiences in developing social skills, empath, and self-determination.
