Damien Hill has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. In 1998, they started their career as a Maintenance Engineer at Baker Hughes, where they eventually became the Laboratory Manager and served in that role until 2007. Damien then joined Charles Darwin University in 2008 as a Lecturer in Engineering, a position they held until 2019. During their time at the university, they also worked as a Learning Technologist from 2019 to 2020. In 2019, Hill founded their own company, Hill Professional Services Pty Ltd, where they served as the Director until 2023. In 2020, they also worked as a freelance R&D Electrical/Electronics Engineer on a casual contract basis. Currently, Hill is working as a Senior Software Engineer at SPEE3D, a position they have held since February 2023.

Damien Hill has a strong background in electrical and electronics engineering. In 1992, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Northern Territory University. Later, in 2008, Damien pursued a Master's degree in Engineering Management from Charles Darwin University. Damien further expanded their knowledge by enrolling in a Master of Engineering by Research (MRES) program at Charles Darwin University from 2010 to 2017, specializing in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
