Sammy Wegent is the CEO and co-founder of Speechless. Sammy has over fifteen years of experience in the entertainment industry, with a focus on writing and directing.
Wegent began their career as an adjunct professor at The Catholic University of America. Sammy then transitioned into the role of camera operator at Nancy Hayes Casting. After that, they became a tour guide for San Francisco Movie Tours and later a podcast host for Houndbite.
In 2004, Wegent became an instructor at the San Francisco Comedy College. Sammy also took on the role of executive producer for the Gulf Coast Comedy Festival. In 2007, they became the associate artistic director for Seaside Repertory Theatre.
Wegent's most recent experience is with Zynga, where they worked as a senior game writer from 2011 to 2015. In this role, they were responsible for creating the framework for games' narrative and thematic content, as well as creating and owning games' copy style guides and fiction bibles. Sammy also created the games' non-playable characters and wrote in-game text.
Wegent's experience in the entertainment industry has given him a unique perspective on how to create engaging content that resonates with audiences. This has been instrumental in their success as the CEO of Speechless.
Sammy Wegent received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre/Theater from Shorter University-College of Adult & Professional Programs. Afterward, they went on to get a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from The Catholic University of America.
