Shekman Wong has extensive experience in the field of clinical pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences. Shekman began their career as a Research Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1992 and later moved on to become a Senior Pharmacokineticist at Abbott Laboratories in 1993. Wong then joined Amgen as a Senior Principal Scientist in 1998 and worked there for seven years.
In 2005, Wong became the Director of PKDM at Theravance Inc, where they stayed until 2009 when they took on the role of Director of Science and Technology at Nektar Therapeutics. After working at Nektar Therapeutics for three years, Wong joined Abbott as the Director of Clinical PK/PD in 2012.
Wong's next career move was to become the Director of Clinical PK/PD, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics at AbbVie in 2013. Shekman remained with AbbVie until 2020, when they became the Senior Director at Kartos Therapeutics, Inc. After two years at Kartos Therapeutics, Wong joined Pardes Biosciences as the Executive Director of Clinical Pharmacology in 2022.
Currently, Wong is serving as the Executive Director of Clinical Pharmacology, DMPK, and Drug Analysis at Spero Therapeutics, a position they have held since June 2023. Throughout their career, Wong has consistently held roles of increasing responsibility and has made significant contributions to the field of clinical pharmacology.
Shekman Wong pursued their education in a disciplined and diligent manner. From 1980 to 1985, they attended the University of the Philippines, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. This foundational education equipped him with the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of pharmacy. Building upon their undergraduate studies, they enrolled at the University of Minnesota from 1986 to 1992. During this period, they completed their Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics. This advanced degree in a specialized field further deepened their expertise and prepared him for greater challenges and opportunities in their professional career.
