Derek Heffernan

Derek Heffernan is an experienced professional in the construction and commercial development sector, currently serving as SVP of Commercial Development & Construction at Sphere Entertainment Co. since May 2023. Previously, Derek held the role of Director of Construction at Hines Real Estate Ireland from March 2020 to June 2023 and served as VP of Commercial Management at Majid Al Futtaim from December 2008 to March 2020. Earlier career positions include Commercial Director at Hammerson for a brief period in 2008 and Project Manager at Bristol Alliance from June 2007 to June 2008. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Westminster, attained between 1993 and 1996, as well as studies at Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone Campus, and RTC Athlone.
