Senior Software Engineer, Payment Terminals and Microservices at Sphere Payments

Jon Bianco is a highly experienced professional with a strong background in software engineering and technology consulting. Jon has held various roles throughout their career, showcasing their expertise in developing software solutions and improving business processes.

Starting in 1987, Jon worked as a Software Engineer at SYMBOL TECHNOLOGIES, INC., where they developed an industrial-grade web browser for wireless devices. This solution included technologies such as JavaScript, barcode scanning, magnetic stripe readers, signature capture, and printers. Jon's software was successfully deployed at American Airlines DFW airport and the Sears distribution center in Hoffman Estates, Chicago. Jon held this position until 2003.

From 2003 to 2018, Jon worked at D & E SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS, INC. as a Lead Client Software Architect. In this role, they focused on the development of various web applications, including a Java/Servlet application and a Sencha ExtJS front-end with an Angular/Ionic3 web app. Additionally, Jon implemented a Terminal Emulation client for the Microsoft Universal Windows Platform, integrating custom APIs for barcode scanning, keyboard data entry, and wireless connectivity. Jon left this company in April 2018.

In May 2018, Jon started their own consulting business, Jon Bianco, Consultant. As an Independent Technology Consultant, they offered software engineering consulting services with a focus on understanding business processes and providing technology and process change recommendations. With their certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and ScrumMaster (CSM), Jon had the expertise to deliver software solutions for the logistics and warehousing vertical. Jon continues this role to the present.

In July 2018, Jon joined Sphere as a Senior Software Engineer, specializing in Payment Terminals and Microservices. In this role, they conducted research and development on software integration for credit card payment devices such as Ingenico, Idtech, and Verifone. Jon led the in-house discovery team throughout all phases of Verifone device integration and also managed the EMV application certification with FiServ RapidConnect for Verifone Engage/Raptor payment devices. Jon remains in this position with an open-ended end date.

Throughout their career, Jon Bianco has consistently demonstrated their expertise in software engineering, project management, and process improvement. Their dedication to delivering efficient solutions has benefited various industries, particularly in the logistics and warehousing sector.

Jon Bianco, PMP®, CSM®, MBA, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Pepperdine University, which was obtained from 2001 to 2003. In addition, they have a Project Management Certificate from UC Irvine, which was obtained from 2005 to 2007. Furthermore, they hold a Master of Science (MS) degree in Software Engineering from National University, earned from 1994 to 1996. Jon also has a Certificate in Object-Oriented Programming from the University of California, Santa Cruz, obtained in 1993 to 1994.

Jon Bianco has additional certifications outside of their formal education. Jon holds a USSF "A" License from the U.S. Soccer Federation, obtained in June 2012, and a Premier Coaching Diploma from United Soccer Coaches, earned in May 2008. Additionally, they are a Project Management Professional (PMP®) certified by the PMI-OC Project Management Institute Orange County Chapter, obtained in September 1996. Jon is also a Commercial/Instrument Pilot certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, achieved in September 1988. Furthermore, Jon Bianco obtained a Full-Stack Web Developer certification from Lynda.com in August 2018, and is a Certified ScrumMaster® certified by the Scrum Alliance, earned in June 2018.
