Michael Vartanyan

Michael Vartanyan has a diverse work experience, primarily in the field of climate change and environmental policy. Michael has held various roles in organizations such as Spherical, UN Climate Change, Ariadne Climate, and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia.

At Spherical, they worked as a Managing Director. At UN Climate Change, they served as a Consultant, with responsibilities that included being a business analyst and lead author of requirements for UN-run Article 6 registries. Michael was also a member of the CGE and worked on a technical paper on the infrastructure of the Paris Agreement Article 6.2.

As a Co-Founder of Ariadne Climate, they focused on developing the company's IT infrastructure and web presence, as well as conceptualizing a registry software for UERs. Michael also worked as a Senior IT supplier at the Green Bond Transparency Platform.

In addition to their private sector experience, Michael has also been involved in international climate change negotiations as a member of Armenia's delegation to the UNFCCC and as a CGE member from Eastern European States. Michael has also worked as an Expert and Facilitator for NDC Partnership country engagement with Armenia.

Prior to their work in climate change, Michael worked as an Information Systems Officer at UNFCCC, where they contributed to the development of the Conference Registration and Security System and the CDM Information System. Michael also has experience as a Software Developer at Scivision and as a Leading Engineer at the Savings Bank of Russia.

Michael Vartanyan received a Master's certificate in Project Management from The George Washington University, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Michael also attended ITMO University, although specific details about their degree and field of study are not available. In addition to their education, Michael has obtained various certifications, including the Certificate of Training from the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute in 2020 and the IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL) from AXELOS Global Best Practice in 2014.
