Senior Photonics Engineer at Spiden

Grace Bramer has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Grace started their career as an Intern at RBC in 2008. Grace then worked as a Gas Safety Engineer for the States of Guernsey for a few months in 2009. From 2010 to 2013, they served as an Illumination Engineer at Visteon, where they led the design and testing of illumination for instrument clusters and managed the Illumination Laboratory. Grace also collaborated with the University of Bath on a joint project scheme.

In 2014, Grace joined Dyson as an Optical Design Engineer, where they worked across multiple departments and led all aspects of optical design for new concept projects. Grace was also involved in developing prototype optics and providing expert consultation on projects related to LEDs, optics, and illumination. In the same year, they briefly served as an Electronic Sensors Specialist, focusing on optical sensing integration in new products.

Grace then moved on to work at Fishbone Solutions (Project REM Ltd) in 2017 as a Project Engineer, specializing in optics and instrument clusters. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as a Researcher in Biomedical Photonics at the University of Bern. Grace conducted research in this field and contributed to ongoing projects.

In 2020, Grace held two positions simultaneously. Grace worked as an Optical Project Manager at ams AG from January to October, where they managed optical projects from concept to production. Grace also worked at ams OSRAM from October 2020 to December 2022 as a Senior Staff Engineer, specifically in Optical Product Definition.

Since 2016, Grace has also maintained freelance work as an Optical Engineer, focusing on various projects until their most recent role as a Senior Photonics Engineer at Spiden, starting in March 2023.

Grace Bramer began their education at The Grammar School in Guernsey in 2005, where they pursued A-Levels in Maths, Physics, English Literature, and History. Grace completed their A-Levels in 2007. From 2007 to 2010, Grace attended the University of Bath, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics with Honors. In 2016, they enrolled in the University of Strathclyde and acquired a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Optical Technologies in 2017.
