Brooke Axtell currently serves as the Senior Director of Development at The SAFE Alliance, a position held since May 2023. Axtell previously held the role of Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships at the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) from August 2020 to December 2022. An experienced leader in addressing gender violence and sex trafficking, Axtell was the Executive Director of Brooke is Rising from January 2017 to December 2022, a survivor-led movement dedicated to these causes. Additional professional achievements include serving as the Director of Communications and Survivor Support at Allies Against Slavery and as an author with Hachette Book Group. Axtell contributed writings on social issues and women’s leadership to Forbes.com from October 2011 to April 2013. Axtell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing from The New School.
