Joanna Vatavu

Joanna Vatavu serves as Associate General Counsel and Data Protection Officer at Spin Master since December 2016, specializing in the drafting, review, and negotiation of various corporate commercial agreements and providing legal advice on business, contract, intellectual property, licensing, media, employment, and privacy law. Prior to this role, Joanna was a Senior Associate in the Technology and IP Group at McMillan LLP from September 2011 to November 2016, focusing on multiple areas of intellectual property law. Joanna commenced legal training as an Articling Student at McMillan LLP and previously held a Summer Student position there. Joanna earned a Doctor of Law (JD) from York University - Osgoode Hall Law School and a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from York University.
