Parag Gad has a diverse work experience in the field of NeuroEngineering rehabilitation. Parag is presently working as the Co-Founder & CEO of SpineX since August 2020. Prior to this, they worked at the Department of Neurobiology, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as an Associate Project Scientist from July 2020 to June 2022 and as an Assistant Project Scientist from November 2019 to July 2020.
Before joining UCLA, Parag worked at UCLA, Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology from July 2013 to November 2019. During this time, they held the position of Assistant Researcher in the Edgerton Lab. In this role, they managed, designed, and implemented studies related to locomotor and autonomic function after paralysis. Parag published over 25 scientific papers using neuromodulation techniques and developed next-generation implantable spinal cord stimulators and electrode arrays. Parag also led the research and development of patented devices in this field.
Parag's career in research began in 2008 when they worked as a Graduate Student Researcher in the Edgerton Lab. Parag conducted research projects under the guidance of Dr. Reggie Edgerton, focusing on pharmacological modulation of locomotor networks in rats with complete spinal cord injuries.
Additionally, Parag has prior experience as a Summer Intern at Biotech India in 2007.
Overall, Parag Gad's work experience demonstrates their expertise in NeuroEngineering rehabilitation and their contributions to advancing techniques and devices for enabling locomotor and autonomic function after paralysis.
Parag Gad's education history starts with attending Lilavatibai Podar High School from 1996 to 2002, where they completed their high school education. Parag then pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, from 2004 to 2008. Following this, Parag went on to attend UCLA from 2008 to 2013, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree and was a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering.
