Mahmoud Akl

Mahmoud Akl is an accomplished professional in the field of robotics and neuromorphic engineering, currently serving as Head of Applications and Neuromorphic Engineer at SpiNNcloud Systems GmbH since January 2023. Akl is also a Research PhD Candidate at Technical University Munich, focusing on brain-inspired learning algorithms for robotics and contributing to the Human Brain Project's Neurorobotics Platform. Previous experience includes a PhD internship in Neuromorphic Computing at Intel Labs and a software development internship at the German Aerospace Center. Early career involvement included a student role at Kastanienbaum GmbH, the DLR Robotics spin-off, and a research assistant position at the Technical University of Munich. Akl holds a Master of Science in Robotics Cognition Intelligence from Technical University of Munich and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics from The German University in Cairo.
