Karina Apodaca is a Senior Data Assimilation Scientist at Spire since September 2021, focusing on enhancing the accuracy of numerical weather forecasts through innovative satellite observation strategies. Prior to this role, Karina worked as a Research Scientist II at Colorado State University/CIRA and NOAA/Hurricane Research Division from November 2017 to September 2021, and served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Colorado State University/CIRA between 2011 and 2013. Karina holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology from Howard University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and Mathematics with a minor in Music/voice from The University of Texas at El Paso.
