Mark Deverill

Mark Deverill has a diverse work experience spanning over 30 years. Mark began their career at EWA Ltd as a Programmer and later worked as an Analyst Programmer at Mercury Communications. Mark then joined LLP (later became Informa UK Ltd.) as an Analyst Programmer/DBA, where they supported and maintained Oracle database systems.

At Informa Group plc, Mark served as the Database Team Manager, responsible for managing Oracle and SQL Server database systems across various business units. Mark later became the Global Support Manager, Internet Group, responsible for managing internet services within the company.

Mark then joined Lloyd's MIU as the Database Team Manager, overseeing technical staff and leading database work for the organization. After that, they joined Informa as the Head of Data Projects, where they had technical responsibility for maritime data projects across the Informa Maritime & Professional division.

In 2015, Mark briefly took on a role as a DIY enthusiast during their garden leave before joining Vesseltracker as the Director of Maritime Data. Mark managed the world's largest privately owned AIS Network and developed innovative solutions for monitoring and analyzing global shipping activity.

Mark then moved to Clarksons Platou as the Head of Data Projects, where they established a central team to support business data and market intelligence across the organization. Mark managed external data relationships and transformed the company into a data-driven enterprise.

Mark is currently working at Spire as the Director Data Operations for Spire Maritime, leading a global team and providing key product services. Mark has also held positions as Data Operations Manager, Senior Manager Sales Engineering, Senior Sales Engineer, and Sales Engineer at Spire, specializing in technical product support, sales engineering, and customer success.

Throughout their career, Mark has showcased expertise in maritime data services, development, and delivery of technical services. Mark has a strong background in data analysis, quality assurance, and has acted as a subject matter expert in the maritime industry.

Mark Deverill attended the University of Essex from 1987 to 1990, where they earned a 2.i degree in Computer Science. Prior to that, from 1985 to 1987, they attended Bexhill Sixth Form College in Bexhill-on-sea, East Sussex, where they completed their A-Levels in Maths, Computing, and Economics. In addition, they obtained a certification in "How to Be More Strategic in Six Steps" from LinkedIn in 2022.
