Chris Hughes

Chris Hughes has a comprehensive background in aerospace engineering and product development, currently serving as the Head of Product Sustainability and Head of the Aerospace Innovation Centre at Spirit AeroSystems since April 2022. Prior experience includes leading the FlyZero project at the Aerospace Technology Institute, focusing on zero-carbon emission commercial flight, and holding various leadership roles at Spirit AeroSystems from 2006 to 2021, including Head of Advanced Product Development and Head of Engineering for key projects such as the Airbus A350 and the Wing of Tomorrow Program. Additionally, Chris has experience at BAE Systems, where contributions included the design development of the Boeing 787 fuselage structures and the Airbus A380 wing leading edge. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Aircraft Engineering from Cranfield University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University.
