Florent Beaufils has held various roles throughout their work experience. Florent served as the Chief Operating Officer at SpiroChem AG starting in February 2017. Prior to that, they were the Deputy Head of Chemistry at PIQUR Therapeutics AG from January 2014 to December 2016. Florent also worked as a Consultant Lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW from October 2012 to August 2016. Before that, they were a Senior Staff Scientist at the University of Basel and PIQUR Therapeutics AG from August 2009 to December 2013. Earlier in their career, they held the position of Head of Chemistry and Quality Control at Covalys Biosciences.

Florent Beaufils has a background in organic chemistry and project management. Florent obtained a Master's Degree in Physical Chemistry from Université de Bourgogne in 2000. Florent went on to pursue a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Bern, which they completed in 2004. Following that, they did a Post Doc in Transition Metal Catalysis - Natural Product Synthesis at Max Planck Society from 2004 to 2005. In 2016, Florent enrolled in the University of California, Irvine Division of Continuing Education to pursue Continuing Education in Introduction to Project Management Principles and Practices Specialization, following PMBOK guidelines. In the same year, they also obtained various certifications related to project management, such as the PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner Training from Simplilearn, and the PRINCE2® Foundation Certificate in Project Management from PEOPLECERT.
