Senior Global Lead For Menstrual Health at Splash

Emily Cruz has extensive work experience in various organizations. Emily started their career as a Museum Collections Intern at the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of Natural History in 2011. Emily then worked as a Research and Policy Intern at Bryant Christie Inc. in 2013 and as a Program Assistant at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from 2013 to 2015. Emily also worked as a Research Assistant at Performance Monitoring and Accountability 2020 (PMA2020) from 2015 to 2016. Emily later joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as a Research Consultant in 2016. Emily then worked at FHI 360 as a Program Officer from 2017 to 2018 and as a Technical Officer from 2018 to 2019. Currently, they are employed at Splash International, where they served as the Global Lead for Menstrual Health from 2019 to 2021 and is currently the Senior Global Lead for Menstrual Health. Emily's work experience reflects their involvement in various research, policy, and program roles in the fields of health, sanitation, and empowerment.

Emily Cruz, MSPH holds a Master's Degree in International Health- Social and Behavioral Interventions from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, which they obtained from 2015 to 2016. Emily also completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International Studies, with an emphasis in Global Health and Medical Anthropology, at the University of Washington from 2009 to 2013. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Safeguarding Essentials from the Humanitarian Leadership Academy in 2021 and in Project Management for Development Professionals (PMD Pro) Level 1 from APMG International in 2018.
