Dr Chris Whitaker has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and organizations. Dr Chris is currently employed at Sport England as the Head of Disability since June 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Disability Manager in the same organization from February 2019 to June 2022.
Before joining Sport England, Dr Whitaker worked as a Trustee at Power2inspire from November 2015 to June 2019. Dr Chris also served as an Engagement Advisor at the English Federation of Disability Sport from June 2017 to February 2019. Furthermore, Dr Whitaker held the position of Director (Trustee) at the Cambridgeshire Cricket Board from July 2016 to October 2017, where they supported effective governance.
In 2013, Dr Whitaker was employed as the Customer Involvement Coordinator at Papworth Trust, where they worked on giving customers a voice and managing various projects. Prior to this, they briefly worked as a Project Support Officer at the Youth Sport Trust in 2013.
Dr Whitaker has also worked in athlete management roles, including at Whitaker Athlete Management from September 2012 to March 2013 and Sine Qua Non International from October 2011 to September 2012. At Sine Qua Non International, they focused on helping Olympic and Paralympic athletes maximize their potential through services such as PR, sponsorship, and marketing. In addition, they served as a publicist for Fran Williamson from November 2010 to October 2011.
Throughout their career, Dr Chris Whitaker has demonstrated a commitment to disability and sports, working in various capacities to promote inclusivity and support athletes' development and success.
Dr Chris Whitaker completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from The University of Sheffield, which they pursued from 2005 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained an MPhil Criminological Research degree from the University of Cambridge in 2005 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Warwick, which they pursued from 2001 to 2004.
