PJ Sernatinger

PJ Sernatinger is an experienced software professional with a career spanning over 20 years. PJ started their career as an Independent Software Consultant in 2001, and subsequently worked for Beat Street as a Technology and Store Manager from 2006 to 2011. PJ then worked for Nokia as a Senior Automation Developer from 2011 to 2014, followed by a brief stint at Microsoft as a Senior Automation Developer before joining HERE as a Senior Test Engineer (SDET) until 2015. From 2015 to 2016, they worked at Kapow as a QA Automation Engineer, where they developed a Selenium and RSpec-based ruby functional testing framework and deployed and maintained a Jenkins CI instance. PJ then worked at Trunk Club as a Software Engineer III from 2016 to 2018, where they were responsible for building systems such as ETL for product attributes and price data and inventory data, and helped build a new Postgres-backed inventory system. From 2018 to 2021, they worked at ActiveCampaign as a Staff Software Engineer, where they were the Team Lead for Automations Processing/Throughput and converted a cron-based legacy batch processing to use an external Java service via SQS. Most recently, since May 2021, they have been working at Dutchie as a Staff Software Engineer, where they have led the Rails 6 and contributed to the Rails 6.1 upgrades and split the Postgres schema. PJ is set to join SpotHero as a Staff Systems Engineer in June 2023.

From 2005 to 2010, PJ Sernatinger attended Columbia College Chicago where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Fiction Writing.
