Mike Christensen

Mike Christensen has a strong background in software engineering and development. Mike is currently working as a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer at Ably since August 2022. Previously, they held the role of Tech Lead at Blokur from January 2021 to August 2022, where they also worked as a Software Engineer from November 2017 to January 2021. In their role at Blokur, they utilized various technologies such as Go, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Node.js, React, ElasticSearch, and Redis to solve engineering challenges in the music technology industry.

Before that, Mike worked as a Full-stack Developer (Contractor) at Discovery Education UK from February 2017 to November 2017, where they contributed to the development of a greenfield technology product in the ed-tech field using technologies such as Angular 2, Webpack, Handlebars, Node.js, and MongoDB. Additionally, they worked as the Lead Full-stack Developer (Contractor) at WE Collective from June 2016 to June 2017, leading the development of an open-source social news platform using AngularJS, SCSS, Grunt, Node.js, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and ElasticBeanstalk.

Mike also gained experience as a Software Engineer Intern at Ocean Blue Software Ltd from June 2015 to September 2015 and as a Front-End Developer at the Environment Agency from September 2014 to June 2015.

Mike Christensen attended The Willink School from 2006 to 2011, where they completed their GCSEs. Following this, they studied at Queen Mary's College from 2011 to 2013, focusing on A-Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and French. Finally, Mike attended the University of Bristol from 2013 to 2016, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science.
