Ken Ono

Editor In Chief, Research In Number Theory at Springer Nature

Ken Ono has a diverse and extensive work experience. Ken is currently a Professor Affiliate of Statistics and a Professor by Courtesy at the University of Virginia. Ken is also the STEM Advisor to the Provost and holds several prestigious roles, such as the Marvin Rosenblum Professor of Mathematics and Fellow of the Shannon Center for Advanced Studies. Additionally, they serve as the Chairman of the Department of Mathematics and has been recognized as the Thomas Jefferson Professor of Mathematics.

In addition to their work at the University of Virginia, Ono is also involved in various organizations. Ken holds the position of VP, Board of Trustees at AMIAS in the Institute for Advanced Study. Ken is a Member of the Council at the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Furthermore, Ono has made significant contributions in the field of mathematics through their roles as Editor In Chief for Research in Number Theory and Research in the Mathematical Sciences at Springer Nature Group. Ken is also the Founder and Director of the Spirit of Ramanujan Global STEM Talent Search.

Ono has held leadership positions at AAAS, where they served as the Chair of the Mathematics Section. Ken has also been a member of the US National Committee for Mathematics at the National Academy of Sciences. Ken has held the position of Vice President at the American Mathematical Society.

Prior to their current positions, Ono was the Asa Griggs Candler Professor at Emory University and held various roles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, including Hilldale Professor, S. P. and Margaret Manasse Professor of Arts and Science, and Professor.

Ken Ono received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Chicago in 1989. Ken then went on to pursue further studies at UCLA, where they obtained a Master's degree in Mathematics in 1991. Ken Ono continued their education at UCLA and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics in 1993.
