Richard Pearson

Richard Pearson is the Chief Innovator and UK Director at Kyoto Fusioneering, a fusion start-up co-founded to accelerate fusion energy realization through innovative technologies. Since October 2019, Richard has also served as a Field Editor for the Journal of Fusion Energy and holds a Visiting Senior Research Associate position at the University of Bristol, focusing on tritium technology and fusion commercialization. A Visiting Researcher at Kyoto University, Richard supports ongoing collaborations with the institution. Previous roles include Senior Consultant at Energy Options Network Inc., Consultant for the Clean Air Task Force, and Independent Technology Consultant for Tokamak Energy Ltd. Richard holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Fusion Engineering from The Open University and has an extensive educational background in engineering from prestigious institutions including Imperial College London and Swansea University.
